NBA Trade Rumors: The Bulls Willing To Send Denzel Valentine Or Bobby Portis For Jahlil Okafor
The Chicago Bulls are reportedly eyeing Jahlil Okafor of the Philadelphia 76ers. The Bulls seemed to believe Okafor could be the answer to their inside scoring issues.
Over the past weeks, the Bulls obviously had some trouble rotating the ball, this is due to the fact that the team really don't have a reliable low-post threat. The ball used to move across the court, and it only seems to drop inside via the slashing player in most cases.
The NJ News reported that the Bulls are targeting Jahlil Okafor to add firepower on the inside. With Okafor's performance during his rookie campaign last season, there is no doubt that he can really provide such services that the Bulls are looking for.
Jahlil Okafor finished his rookie season last year with very impressive numbers. Okafor had an average of more than 17 points along with 7 rebounds per game. Jahlil Okafor is a true low-post threat that is a resident in the paint.
However, as per the CSN Chicago, Jahlil Okafor's numbers significantly decrease this season. Not only with the fact that Joel Embiid is now healthy, but also it shows that Embiid is more reliable since he can defend the low-post better than Okafor.
Okafor had some troubles defending his position due to his height and vertical. As Joel Embiid shows progress every night, Okafor's future seemed to be taking a little to no future at all.
As for the Chicago Bulls, the Sixers General Manager Bryan Colangelo stated that they are not willing to take any of the Bulls' veterans. The Bulls' only hope is to send some of their young and future stars in exchange for Jahlil Okafor such as Bobby Portis or Denzel Valentine.
Moreover, it is likely to see that Okafor will be sitting on the Sixers' bench until the next 2 years. The Sixers are taking a very wise move and have waited for a very long time before they finally see even a small glimpse of a bright future ahead.
