Ed Sheeran Gets Honorary Doctoate Degree; Music Festivals Banned For Singer?

"Thinking Out Loud" hitmaker Ed Sheeran received an honorary doctorate degree for his "outstanding contribution to music" on Monday.

Ed or Dr. Ed Sheeran grew up in Framlingham, Suffolk. He dropped out from school at the age of 16 in ambition to concentrate in singing. Ed Sheeran's honorary doctorate degree was awarded to him from Ipswich, England University on Monday. He went back to his homeland to accept the degree himself. .

"Receiving this recognition is a real privilege." He said. He attended the ceremony in a dark cap and gown paired with converse, to match his personality he rolled up the gown sleeves, which showed off his tattoos, according to Music Times.

"I've had an amazing year ... and this makes it even better," he reportedly said on People.

Ed's parents John and Imogen were watching as their son gave his speech. He said that he chose to do what he loved, worked hard for it and not taking anybody else opinion that he cannot do something.

The proud awardee shared his achievement with his fans in an Instagram post captioned "I graduated today, I am now officially Dr. Sheeran.", reported on People.

He stressed a thought during an interview with the Press Association that he feels that young people shouldn't be too pressured in terms of their education, "I think if you don't know what you want to do, hold off for a couple years, go travel and find yourself." He said, reported on Mirror. Sharing his thoughts that many kids enroll in a University and ended up getting a degree that for their future jobs that don't even require it.

To sum up Ed's amazing year of 2015, last month he had a collaboration at Global Citizen Festival in New York City's Central Park with Beyoncé singing her hit song "Drunk in Love" and even revealed in his speech that he had no plans in performing to any music festivals next year. He wants to have three or four albums before he goes to any festivals, as reported on Mirror.
