Solo Batman Movie: Ben Affleck Not Directing Anymore; Find Out Why
Ben Affleck will not direct the upcoming solo Batman movie anymore. The actor surprised the fans on Monday but he made it clear that he will still be starring in the standalone film.
Both Affleck and Warner Bros. studio agreed with the decision. According to media outlets, the reason behind the pullout is due to his commitment as the lead character.
Speaking to USA Today, the 44-year old veteran actor had been hinting the difficulties of sitting on the director's chair while portraying the titular role in the new solo Batman movie. Then, he confirmed the decision recently.
"There are certain characters who hold a special place in the hearts of millions. Performing this role demands focus, passion and the very best performance I can give," the actor stated. "It has become clear that I cannot do both jobs to the level they require."
Affleck said further that they are looking for a new director to helm the upcoming superhero flick. On the other hand, the studio also released a statement that supports his decision.
What to Expect in the Much-Awaited Standalone Film
Apart from the latest report, the anticipated solo Batman movie is still on its way. Even though the release date is still under wraps, Cinema Blend notes that it might be out between October 2018 and November 2019.
Also, the film might retain its dark theme. However, the movie might have a PG-13 rating from the Batman vs Superman's R-Rating. The outlet claimed that the studio would like to be flexible when it comes to its demographic target.
Rumor has it that the film will feature several villains from the comic book. But the DC Universe is yet to confirm the official storyline in the coming days.
