Millions of fans are now excited for the upcoming release of "The Winds of Winter" novel. While details about the upcoming book remain scarce until now, George RR Martin has hinted that it will be arriving this year.

Entertainment Weekly reported George RR Martin finally gave a clue on when "The Winds of Winter" will be coming out. The veteran author stated the sixth book of the "A Song of Ice and Fire" saga will be released in 2017.

"Not done yet, but I've made progress," George RR Martin has said about the upcoming "The Winds of Winter". "But not as much as I hoped a year ago when I thought to be done by now. I think it will be out this year. (But hey, I thought the same thing last year.)"

It can be recalled that avid followers of the "A Song of Ice and Fire" book saga got frustrated after George RR Martin failed to release the book along with the "Game of Thrones" Season 6 premiere.

So, will "The Winds of Winter" arrive before "Game of Thrones" Season 7 premieres? Well, no one knows as of yet.

George RR Martin also hinted that "The Winds of Winter" contains several dark chapters, which means more deaths and wars are coming.  The author added that most characters will be in their dimmest days, adding the plot is not what most fans are expecting.

Meanwhile, GamenGuide has previously reported that "The Winds of Winter" book might come before "Game of Throne" Season 7 premieres. The news website has also claimed that the New Mexican author is almost done with the book already.

However, with the recent revelation of George RR Martin about the book, it seems like this "The Winds of Winter" speculation is already proven untrue. So, instead of wasting your precious time on rumors, Korea Portal highly recommends you to wait for the official details from George RR Martin himself.
