'The Handmaid's Tale' Season 1: Hulu's Star Studded Ensemble Welcomes 'Gilmore Girl's' Alexis Bledel & 'Orange Is The New Black's' Samira Wiley

"The Handmaid's Tale" Season 1 premiere is coming soon on the Hulu Network this April 2017. This American television series tells a fictional story of an anti-Utopian society in the Republic of Gilead. Put together to bring out the best of the series are Alexis Bledel and Samira Wiley with Elisabeth Moss as Offred.

In a report by Variety, "The Handmaid's Tale" Season 1 is brought to television based on Margaret Atwood's book of the same title. Hulu has ordered for a 10 - episode straight-to-series production, which started in late 2016. It can be recalled that the series used to be a movie shown in 1990 with Natasha Richardson as the main cast.

"The Handmaid's Tale" Season 1 will introduce the dystopian plight of the women in the fictional world, where women called as handmaids are nothing but sex slaves or servants. Offred will be joined by other handmaids such as Ofglen (played by Bledel) and they will be under the custody of Aunt Lydia (Anne Dowd).

According to TVLine, Bledel who's a young and attractive girl in Stars Hallow, which is light years away from Gilead will take an 180 degrees career turn in "The Handmaid's Tale" Season 1. She will be playing as a lesbian who will struggle to survive together with other handmaids in the fictional country, which used to be part of the US.

"The Handmaid's Tale" Season 1 will have its debut on the Hulu Network on April 26, 2017. The first three episodes of the series will be directed by EP Reed Morano. Other casts involved are Joseph Fiennes of the "American Horror Story", Yvonne Strahovski of "Chuck",  Max Minghella of "The Mindy Project", and Madeline Brewer of "Hemlock Grove".
