'Goblin' is one of the most, if not the most, talked-about drama right now and it has nothing to do with Gong Yoo's character's chemistry with Kim Go Eun's character in the drama. They played the male lead and the female lead respectively. Surprisingly, more than both lead's chemistry, what catches the attention of the viewers more is the bromance between Gong Yoo and Lee Dong Wook's characters.

Fans enjoyed the bromance between Goblin (Gong Yoo) and the Grim Reaper (Lee Dong Wook) so much that they said they couldn't imagine anybody playing the part of the Grim Reaper other than Lee Dong Wook.

But surprisingly, as revealed by the news outlet 'Daily Economy', Lee Dong Wook was initially rejected by the 'Goblin' writer herself, Kim Eun Sook, for the role. She simply thinks Lee Dong Wook doesn't fit the role.

And what's more surprising is the fact that Lee Dong Wook was rejected for the role not just once. Kim Eun Sook rejected Lee Dong Wook for the role not only once but the actor kept on trying until he landed the Grim Reaper's role.

Lee Dong Wook immediately fell in love with the drama after reading the script that he doesn't mind taking on a secondary role just to be a part of it. The CEO of his management company, King Kong Entertainment, personally reached out to Kim Eun Sook to help Lee Dong Wook land the role. Unfortunately, the writer rejected him for the role.

But that doesn't stop Lee Dong Wook from trying again and again. He personally reached out to the writer for a chance to personally meet up with her. All his efforts had paid off since he eventually landed the role.

Now can you imagine the role of the Grim Reaper to be played by anybody else?
