‘Avatar 2’ Release Date, News & Update: Sigourney Weaver Doubtful Of December 2018 Premiere, Hints James Cameron Caused Delays

Millions of fans around the world are now excited for the upcoming premiere of the "Avatar 2" movie. However, it seems like the much-anticipated film is going through rough times as it is said to be delayed once again.

Slash Film shared that "Avatar 2" might come later than the expected release date. The upcoming sequel has been delayed for several times already but actress Sigourney Weaver reportedly thinks that this is going to be impossible.

"We haven't started it, so I don't know how realistic that date is, but I think it's going to be very exciting," Weaver revealed to The Hollywood Reporter about the current state of the "Avatar 2" film, debunking rumors that the film is already in the works. Originally, the sequel was scheduled to premiere in December 21, 2018 but, with the actress' revelations, it might be very unlikely to happen.

To recall, director James Cameron has already hinted what fans should expect in the upcoming "Avatar 2" movie. "The storyline in the sequels really follows Jake and Neytiri and their children. It's more of a family saga about the struggle with the humans," he previously divulged.

Meanwhile, it was previously rumored that Sigourney Weaver's character, Dr. Grace Augustine, is going to make a comeback in the four upcoming "Avatar" sequels. The actress even divulged to Coming Soon that James Cameron is developing a technology to add more fun and excitement in the upcoming "Avatar 2," which also explains why the first sequel is getting delayed over and over again.

There were also claims saying that Stephen Lang will become one of the main lead casts in the upcoming "Avatar 2" movie. Along with Sam Worthington and Zoe Saldana, the character of the veteran actor is said to be the focus in the four sequels.

"Avatar 2" is slated for a December 2018 release. More sequels are coming in December 2020, December 2022 and December 2023.
