Park Bo-gum hits off Asia Tour by charming Malaysian fans
Park Bo-gum, the charming crown prince in the hit series "Moonlight Drawn by Clouds" met hordes of Malaysian fans as he kicked off his Asian Tour.
The 23-year-old Hallyu heartthrob met with met almost 3,000 fans at the KLCC Plenary Hall in Kuala Lumpur Sunday evening.
Park arrived Saturday in Malaysia and is also slated to visit Hong Kong, Indonesia, Taiwan, Japan, Thailand and Singapore before he ends the tour with a final fan convention in his home country of South Korea before this year ends. The actor's talent agency Blossom Entertainment organized the event "2016-2017 Park Bo-gum Asia Tour Fan Meeting," according to Yohap.
New Strait Times added that HS E&C and CN Group with IME Malaysia and Social Up organized the meeting. The event organizer reported about 500 fans who waited for the actor at the airport.
The young actor later shared during the press conference in Mandarin Oriental that he was surprised at the warm welcome that he received. He said it was his first visit to the country and felt both nervous and excited to see his Malaysian fans. He also expressed his gratitude to the love and support he received from his fans and said he was truly humbled after reading out fan letters.
Park achieved mainstream success in his first leading role for the period drama "Moonlight Drawn by Clouds" which achieved more than 20 percent audience rating. This started a "Bogum Magic" and he's widely considered as a new generation Hallyu star.
"I didn't feel it while the drama was airing, but it hit me during fan meetings afterwards," he told Soompi in an interview. "I was surprised to see more people than I expected. I greeted them because I was so thankful, but it became even more crowded. What I realized then was that other people could be harmed due to my actions and words."
