Gong Yoo to Become CF King, Advertisers Lining Up for the Actor With “Goblin’s” Popularity

Gong Yoo's popularity is surging with just two episodes of "Goblin" airing. Multiple advertisers are reportedly scouting Gong Yoo for their advertisements proving the actor's early success with his new drama.

It was revealed by an advertising insider that tvN's new drama "Goblin" is granting Gong Yoo a huge number of offers by advertisers, as reported by AllKpop. Purportedly, with "Goblin's" first episode, there were about 50 advertisers vying for the actor to promote their brand and products. The number went up to 65 after the second episode was aired.

The endorsement offers for Gong Yoo is definitely due to the fact that "Goblin" has been garnering high viewership ratings since its first episode. In fact, the fantasy drama has surpassed the highest recorded ratings attained by tvN's "Reply 1988," further increasing the hype and expectation of viewers. To this, Gong Yoo has relayed his message to his fans for supporting his comeback drama after four years.

"I was more nervous about this than a movie premiere," Gong Yoo wrote in a message to his fans, as cited by Soompi. "Thank you so much for cheering me on."

"Goblin" is the new work by "Descendants of the Sun" writer Kim Eun Sook and director Lee Eung Bok which has set the expectations for the drama even higher. The fantasy romance drama tells the story of Kim Shin (Gong Yoo), a goblin who needs a human bride to end his immortal life. He lives together with the Angel of Death, Ji Eun Tak (Lee Dong Wook) who suffers from amnesia. Together the two lives in the human world as they hold responsibility for human souls.

Currently, Gong Yoo is working as a brand model for 9 different companies, and it is expected that if the actor accepts the endorsement offers, he could soon be dubbed as a "CF King." Meanwhile, "Goblin" enjoys its success being hailed as the new tvN drama with the highest TV rating with just two episodes.
