As part of the electronic company's corporate social responsibility, Samsung will provide a "Smart School" Program to 14 selected institutions.

Out of the 14 institutions that are lucky enough to be chosen by Samsung, 7 are schools which are from underprivileged areas. Samsung will provide the "Smart School" Program to these schools in the form of high-tech classroom systems. This will include tablet computers, electronic bulletin boards, and wireless network infrastructure. Teachers of the chosen schools need to undergo a training program to better understand the system. That way, they will be able to utilize the smart systems for better learning.

Samsung's "Smart School" Program started in 2012. Its main goal is to reduce the digital education gap between urban areas and remote regions of Korea. A total of 36 schools is now enjoying the program ever since it started.

For this year, aside from the 7 standard school beneficiaries, Samsung will also provide "Smart School" Program to 2 special education schools, one hospital school, one multicultural center, and three child welfare institutions. All in all, they compose the 14 lucky beneficiaries for this year.

A total of 634 educational institutions have applied for this year's smart school program, Samsung said. And because of the very warm support they received from the public, the company decided to choose 14 beneficiaries for this year.

The support Samsung "Smart School" Program received for this program was overwhelming. In fact, the company said that this year they even get applications not only from ordinary schools but also from all education institutions for youth between 6 and 18. That includes hospitals, multicultural centers, child welfare institutions and special education schools.

Aside from the smart school systems, Samsung is also planning to provide virtual reality devices for hospital schools. They are also planning to provide multicultural education curriculum for students at multicultural centers.
