Park Bo Gum Shares Thoughts on His Role in 'Moonlight Drawn By Clouds'

South Korean actor Park Bo Gum has captured local and international fans' hearts through his drama "Moonlight Drawn by Clouds" by playing the role of Crown Prince Lee Young, and the actor shared his thought on his popularity in an interview with reporters on Wednesday in Northern Seoul.

According to an article from the Korea Herald, the period drama surpassed the 20 percent viewership rating after just three episodes and remained consistent as the top drama on its Monday-Tuesday timeslot. The actor also told the reporters that it was quite a challenge for him to play the playful and mischievous character of Prince Lee Young in the drama.

He stated, "I thought it was an unexpected character. You would normally expect a prince to be serious, but he was more than that. Outwardly he was very fun-loving, but inwardly he had vast ambitions for his country and cared deeply about his people."

When asked about his leading lady, actress Kim Yoo Jung, who played the role of Hong Ra-On in the drama, Park said that he had fun working with the young actress.

Park commented, "It got to the point where we would burst out laughing just by looking at each other. But I learned a lot from her. She has done lots more period pieces. And she would analyze her scripts really thoroughly and sometimes help me catch on to parts that I missed. I felt like we would look into each other's eyes and know what the other was feeling."

Park Bo Gum is known to be a gentleman and a polite, always smiling actor. When he was asked whether maintaining a "good boy" image is a burden to him, he answered, "Not at all. If it was something I was trying to force, then that would be hard. But I am just being me. I do not think it is good to interact with people with a certain agenda in mind."

The actor, together with the staff and other actors of the drama "Moonlight Drawn by Clouds" just got back from their vacation from the Philippines. The vacation was an incentive for the success of the series.
