Heavy rainstorm and inclinate weather struck the southern part of South Korea particularly in Jeju Island and resort.

Beginning Monday night, typhoon Chaba traveled across mainland Japan and South Korea this week which threathened lives and destroyed properties at the Ryukyu Islands.

Typhoon Chaba reached the super-typhoon level which is equivalent to a category 5 hurricane on Monday afternoon. Fortunately, the typhoon has weakened below its super-typhoon status, but the residents of South Korea and Japan should not let their guard down.

According to the safety ministry, the cause of the heavy rainstorm is a Typhoon named "Chaba". The typhoon Chaba approached the Korean Peninsula on Wednesday, October 5th.

The Ministry of Public Safety and Security reported that the typhoon brought a blackout to 25,000 houses across the Jeju Island. Also, one man has gone missing while working on a fishing boat anchored at a dock. The police and authorities are already conducting their search and rescue operations within the island.

Moreover, flights going to Jeju Island are being cancelled due to the strong typhoon. A total of 77 domestic and international sea routes are temporarily suspended.

Typhoon Chaba, garnering winds up to 39 meters per second as of 6:00 a.m. today, is set to go at the southern port city of Busan, South Korea before heading towards Japan traveling through the East Sea.

Severe impacts are expected to happen in the Southern part of South Korea regardless whether the cyclone makes a landfall or not. Widespread damaging winds, storm surge, and flash floods are all expected.

Government authorities in the island are already warning the tourists and locals across the island to stay away from the sea and to keep alert and safe by staying at their homes.
