There is no doubt that YG Entertainment and JYP Entertainment are two of the biggest and most successful entertainment agencies in South Korea. The two companies not only have idols and singers in their roster, they also have talented and prominent actors and models under their companies.

The two companies also have different views and priorities when it comes to the artists or talents that they train. The CEOs of the two companies, JYP (Park Jin Young) and Yang Hyun Suk (YG) revealed the qualities and traits of individuals that they favor to enter their respective companies. Koreaboo reported the details straight from the CEOs themselves.

The CEO of JYP Entertainment, Park Jin Young, stated, "No matter how good someone is at singing and dancing, if they are not bright and healthy people, I cannot bring myself to produce them. I do not know why I would want to help achieve such people's dreams. Making money is important but I want that process to be happy. If someone is lacking in either skill or character, I help them as much as I can but my real dream is to grow people who have both."

Yang Hyun Suk, the CEO of YG Entertainment, on the other hand, said, "Park Jin Young prioritized people's kindness but I am the opposite. If I were to put priorities, it would be talent, work ethic, and then kindness. Having worked as a producer for 20 years, I have developed an eye much like someone who can tell a female chick from a male in one second. When it comes to picking out future stars, I have developed such an eye."

It seems like their background as singers and entertainers helped them with finding the best artists in K-pop and the Korean entertainment industry. Park debuted as a solo singer in 1994 after his group called "Park Jin-young and the New Generation" did not succeed. He released his debut album titled "Blue City" with the track "Don't Leave Me," which marked his way to stardom. YG's founder, Yang Hyun Suk, was once a member of the popular group "Seo Taiji & Boys" in 1991. The group disbanded in 1996 and Yang established YG Entertainment in 1998.
