'Thor: Ragnarok' Cast: Mark Ruffalo To Play Hulk; Production To Start In 2016
It has been confirmed that the upcoming "Thor" movie will feature actor Mark Ruffalo as Hulk, with the film set to premiere on November 2017 as reported by Comic Book Movie.
Mark Ruffalo first played Hulk in "The Avengers" movie, which was released in 2012. The actor received critical acclaim for his performance which led to Marvel Studios retain his contract to reprise the character in any film appearances produced by the company. He reprised the role again in this year's "Avengers: Age of Ultron."
It seems that Bruce Banner will be set to help his fellow Avenger as Thor battles Loki and deals with the Valkyries for the upcoming Marvel film. While plot details are yet to be revealed for Mark Ruffalo's role as Hulk in the upcoming "Thor: Ragnarok" movie, production has been confirmed to start next year. The film's lead actors Chris Hemsworth, Jaimie Alexander and Tom Hiddleston will return to reprise their respective roles as Thor, Lady Sid and Loki, Variety reports.
While this is good news, speculations also rise on why Mark Ruffalo - or at least his character Hulk - will not get his own feature film despite his acclaimed performance. Still, this could also mean an exciting development for the third "Thor" movie and will provide opportunity to give fans a chance to see what Bruce Banner is like before "The Avengers: Infinity War Part 1" will hit cinemas in the future according to Screen Rant.
It is not only Mark Ruffalo who played Hulk in the film history. The superhero was first portrayed by Eric Bana in Ang Lee's film "Hulk" in 2003, then by Edward Norton in 2008's "The Incredible Hulk."
Ruffalo, 47, has been a longtime actor since he started in 1992. His notable performances can be seen in titles such as "13 Going on 30," "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind," "The Kids Are All Right" and "Foxcatcher," where he received Academy Award nominations for Best Supporting Actor.
