Music Experts Name Most Influential Kpop Artists and Songs in the History

South Korean music industry experts joined forces to name top 25 most influential idols in the history of Kpop. The survey also included the best hit song of each idol.

The poll question asked to name the top 25 male and female Kpop idols who debuted in 1990s up to the present. It was cleared that the list only covers Kpop artists and not South Korean artists in general.

The panel was composed of experts named Kim Kyung Jin, Kang II Kwon, Kim Sung Hwan, Kim Bong Hyun, Kim Young Daw, Nam Sung Hoon, Kim Yoon Ha, Park Joon Woo, Seo Jung Min Gap, Bae Soon Tak, Song Ki Chul, Lee Kyung Jun, Song Myung Ha, Lee Dae Hwa, Choi Kyu Sung, Cha Woo Jin, Choi Ji Sun, Han Myung Ryun, Han Dong Yoon and the producer of Mnet M! Countdown, Maa Doo Sik. MBC Show Music Core provider Park Jung Kyu, Mi Myo, MBC radio producer Ahn Dong Jin, Mnet contents leader, Shin Hyung Kwan, SBS radio producer Yoon Eui Joon, reporters Jung Yang Hwan, Jang Sun Hee, Lim Hee Yoon and Lee Ji Hoon and Han Kyung Chun of KBS Music Bank also participated in creating the list.

Each expert were allowed to award multiple votes for each idol, Koreaboo reported.

Results revealed that the top male groups in Kpop history with their respective number of votes are the following: 1. Bigbang (25), 2. HOT and TVXQ (13), 3. SHINee (11), 4. GOD (10), 5. EXO (8), 6. Shinhwa (3), 7. Super Junior, INFINITE and Sechs Kies (2) and 8. BTS (1).

For the female groups, the results are: 1. Girls' Generation (21), 2. Wonder Girls (16), 3. 2NE1 (11), 4. SES (10), 5. BoA and f(x) (7), 6. fin.K.L (4), 7. TWICE (3), 8. KARA (2), 9. IU (2), 10. Baby VOX, SISTAR, G-Friend and Hyuna (1).

Experts also named the song that made the top idols legendary in the industry. These songs include "Lies," "Bae Bae," "Fantastic Baby," and "Haru Haru" by Bigbang, "Candy" by HOT, "Growl" by XO, "Mirotic" by TVXQ, "To Mother" by GOD, "Sherlock, Lucifer and Dream Girl" by SHINee, "Couple" by Sechs Kies, "Be Mine" by INFINITE, "Sorry Sorry" by Super Junior, "One of A Kind" by G-Dragon, "Gee," "Into the New World," and "I Got a Boy" by Girls' Generation, "Tell Me" by Wonder Girls, "I'm Your Girl" by SES, "I Am The Best" by 2Ne1, "Number 1" by BoA, "Cheer Up" by TWICE, "Nu Abo" and "Electric Shock" by f(x), and "Rough" by G-Friend.

Almost the same results reflected from a survey organized by Donga Ilbo and Idology naming Bigbang, HOT and GOD as the top three male idols in the industry. Girls Generation, Fin. K.L. and SES got the top three positions for female idols, respectively.

Bigbang's hitsong "Lies" also topped the list.

Soompi reported that respondents in their 30s preferred HOT while those in their 20s chose Bigbang, EXO and Super Junior. Male respondents liked Girls Generations' "Gee" while ladies enjoyed "Tell Me" by Wonder Girls more than the other girl group Kpop songs.
