Brendon Small didn't really cancel "Metalocalypse," or did he? With the idea of "Metalocalypse" final season being turned down last March, fans have just started an online campaign to bring back the well-loved metal-inspired animated TV series, according to a report from Metal Injection.

Created by Brendon Small and Tommy Blacha, "Metalocalypse" premiered in 2006 at Adult Swim network. The story centers on the fictional death metal band Dethklok which enjoys popularity level that is unheard of in real life - so much that it ranks as the "7th largest economy on Earth" towards the end of second season. "Metalocalypse" can be seen both as a mix of parody and celebration of heavy metal music.

The series managed to get 4 seasons and one special episode titled "The Doomstar Requiem" which aired on October 2013. However, at present "Metalocalypse" is presumed to be cancelled as no updates have been announced after the special episode airing. Small once tweeted that he has plans for "Metalocalypse" final season.

This month, Small and the team behind the most metal show ever announced an online campaign for "Metalocalypse" final season to be funded by Hulu, a California-based online streaming service company. Titled #MetalocalypseNow, fans and interested supporters can participate by signing the petition at Change.org, tweet directly to Hulu's account, and for the serious ones, send a package of guitar picks to their office - just like what Metallica did.

Yes, Metallica - one of the biggest heavy metal bands in music history - just joined fans in bringing back everyone's favorite animated death metal band Dethklok on small screen. So far they're the first major band to answer Small's call to support the #MetalocalypseNow campaign according to Ultimate Classic Rock.

Metallica's members James Hetfield and Kirk Hammett are not only just fans, but they also provided their voices for the show. They are noted for voicing the characters Lorkey the Sailor and the Queen of Denmark, respectively.

Their message, which was posted on Instagram, says: "Everyone here at Metallica HQ would really appreciate if you can finish Metalocalypse so we can watch it on your lovely service. Thank you for your attention in this matter."
