Actor Lee Joon Gi Thanks Fans For 1 Billion Views of 'Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo'

South Korean actor Lee Joon Gi sent a message showing his gratitude to fans after his ongoing drama "Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo" garnered 1 billion views in Youku, which is the number one online video streaming in China.

Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo is a historical drama about a girl named Hae Soo (IU) who travelled back in time and arrived at the Goryeo Dynasty. She met the Wang family princes including the fourth prince, Wang So (Lee Joon Gi) who has a dark past and known for his fierceness and cruelty among people. The story becomes more interesting as the love story of the two lead characters progresses.

The drama also gained popularity because of its star-studded casts including EXO's Baekhyun, Kang Ha Neul, Nam Joo-Hyuk, Ji Soo and Yoon Sun-Woo.

Meanwhile, Lee thanked his fans through a post on his official Instagram account last September 21 for their continuous support for Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo. He also posted an image of himself along with a Chinese poster of his role in the drama.

Lee was also showered with lots of compliments and praises for his excellent portrayal of the role of Wang So. Fans said that he is an efficient actor and the character suits his looks as well.

On August 29, the drama was premiered at SBS channel. It has been experiencing some decrease in the viewership rating during its first four episodes and unfortunately continued up to ninth episode.

According to CJ E&M Company, despise of the low ratings of Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo it was crowned as the most influential television show for the month of September. It got the top spot with 294.3 CPI points beating its close rival "Moonlight Drawn by Clouds" on KBS 2TV channel.

On August 16, Lee appeared on the V-Live app and mentioning his wish for Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo to get the same popularity with the drama "Doctors" from SBS channel.

"We worked hard for six months. I hope viewers will be able to recognize our hard work and passion," Lee said during his V-Live session.

Furthermore, the drama simultaneously airs on Mango TV and KNTV in Japan, Youku in China, and ONE TV Asia in Indonesia, Singapore and Malaysia.
