Obama Plans to Allow More Refugees To Enter the US
US President Obama announced through the annual refugee report to Congress that his administration has plans to add to the number of allowed refugees admitted to the United States by 30 percent in fiscal year 2017 according to Reuters citing the Wall Street Journal, which cited an.
Beginning October 1, the new target will admit 110,000 refugees for the 2017 fiscal year which is up from 85,000 in 2016. The numbers were presented by Secretary of State John Kerry during a closed door session to members of the House and Senate judiciary committees on Tuesday.
Kerry has repeatedly mentioned in the past that the United States would admit at least 100,000 refugees in fiscal 2017 and try to admit more if the country has enough resources to do so.
