Sechs Kies: 1990s Korean Boy Band Makes Comeback Concert Dream Stage

The 1990s South Korean boy band has made a comeback after 16 years, naming their two-day concert as "a beginning" and a "dream stage."

Sech Kies debuted in the year 1997 and consists of six members. However, during the group's press conference held at the Olympic Park Gymnastics Stadium in Southeastern part of Seoul, only five members showed up namely: Jang Su-won, Kang Sung-hoon, Eun Ji-won, Kim Jae-duc and Lee Jae-jin.

"This is our dream concert. I could see how much our fans awaited us. I saw some fans who sat there, simply too amazed to scream out," Kang said.

After almost two decades, Eun thanked Sechs Kies fans who attended the concert and made their fans re-united.

"They used to be girls in school uniforms, but now I feel like I'll have to respect them and treat them as adults," Eun said as his team mates give their heartfelt support.

The two-day concert on Saturday and Sunday garnered 20,000 attendees and it is considered as the first independent concert of the group. The concert was organized to promote In order to promote the "Yellow Concert," a media event was organized. Sechs Kies had been one of the two most popular K-pop boy bands in the 1990s together with H.O.T.

Last May, the 1990s Korean boy band Sechs Kies, with all of its members, signed a three-year contract under YG Entertainment, which is known as the second largest entertainment company in South Korea.

Sechs Kies members are all in their late 30s and the band has lots of work arrangements such as comeback and activities with their new Executive Producer.

"We could not get the original music record (MR) since it's been quite a while since we left the stage, so we made new recordings with some updates with the sound. You should check out our debut song, School Byeolgok, it's been re-arranged in more powerful charismatic remix in typical YG style," Kang said.

In 2000, the Sechs Kies members were disbanded and they agreed that they no longer want to sing six songs in a row during the era of their popularity.

"When we get knocked out, we tend to make longer comments during the concert. That's how you can tell that our energy is getting low," Eun said.

After their press conference, the concert came as the group sing a total of 19 songs in their 1990s hit songs. Meanwhile, Sechs Kies fans sang together with the Korean boy band as they recall their teenage memories.

At the end of the concert, Sechs Kies performed their new song entitled "Three Words." The members crossed their fingers and wishing that their song will get the number one spot on the music charts.

"We've got to have this No. 1 title after 16 years, or you'll have to wait another 16 years to see us back on stage," Eun said.
