Saturday Night Live Korea Season 8 Returns with New Hosts

Saturday Night Live (SNL) Korea Season 8 returns with new hosts.

Fans of the Korean version of NBC's comedy show anticipates Tak Jae-Hoon to add more fun to the group. The singer and entertainer once appeared on Season 7 with his witty and amusing chitchats.

Producer Min Jin-ki expressed his exhilaration about Tak's upcoming SNL hosting during the show's press conference held at the Stanford Hotel in Seoul. "We expect the most from Tak for season 8," he said. Min added that the team's goal is to "keep our comedy sketches from the previous season led by Shin Dong-yup."

Tak is assigned to lead the "Night Line" which is a new unscripted segment. His humorous ad-lib will add life to the program. The producer added that they "will send captions ahead of the segment and remind Tak that the success or failure of the day depends on his condition."

The newest host sees the show to have more freedom compared to other comedy programs in the country. He emphasized that this freedom allows him to show his free character on T.V, Korea Times reported.

Tak started his career as a singer during 1990s but became more popular in the industry with his hosting skills. The KBS Entertainment Awardee is considered as one of the wittiest celebrities in Korea.

Apart from Tak, members of boyband 2PM will also host the show on September 3. The group is busy with promotions for their comeback, Koreaboo informed. Actress and singer Lee Soo-min and actors Lee Myung-hoon, Kim So-hye and Jang Do-yoon are part of the team making Saturday nights livelier.

The first season of SNL started running in 2011. Some of its old and new segments include the Weekend Update, SNL Digital Short, Eatable X-File and Sa-gwa Shilup. The weekly program airs at 9:15 in the evening at TVN.
