Depressed Selena Gomez Announces Time Off from the Spotlight; Justin Bieber to Take a Career Break Too
After their feud in social media, Selena Gomez and Justin Bieber both announced their need to be away from the spotlight.
People Magazine released Gomez' statement, "As many of you know, around a year ago I revealed I have lupus, an illness that can affect people in different ways... I've discovered that anxiety, panic attacks and depression can be side effects of lupus, which can present their own challenges."
Systemic Lupus Erythematosus has different effects on individuals and its signs include tiredness, pain, kidneys and heart damage, sensitivity to sun exposure, alopecia, joint stiffness and inflammation.
The 24 year old singer and actress emphasized that she wants to concentrate on her happiness and health which made her decide to take a career break. She expressed her gratitude to her fans and encouraged individuals who also suffer from similar issues, The Sun reported.
Meanwhile, on his official Facebook account, Bieber informed fans about his desire to take some time off. He stated "Love you. Just taking a break for me sometimes. See everyone on BBC tonight and tour next month. Thanks."
Ex-lovers, Gomez and Bieber recently had a dramatic feud over an Instagram post. A photo of Bieber and girlfriend Sofia Richie was criticized and bashed by fans. "Don't be mad at your fans. They love you," Gomez advised former boyfriend not to post pictures if he cannot accept public disapproval, Reuters disclosed. The exchange of comments include the "Same Old Love" hitmaker's claim that Bieber cheated on her many times.
The Canadian singer deleted his Instagram account a few hours after the said quarrel whereas Gomez cancelled the remaining leg of her "Revival" tour due to her condition.
Gomez and Bieber started their relationship in 2011 and separated in 2014. Both artists are currently active and busy this year with their own records.
