Jackie Chan to receive Oscars lifetime achievement award.

Martial arts master and actor Jackie Chan will receive a lifetime recognition from Oscars for his significant contributions to the movie industry.

Cheryl Boone Isaacs, President of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences said that the honorary award recipients are "true pioneers and legends in their crafts." The award aims to celebrate and acknowledge "extraordinary distinction in lifetime achievement, exceptional contributions to the state of motion picture arts and sciences or for outstanding service to the Academy," BBC reported.

The 62 year old actor started as a martial arts star in Hong Kong starring in hit movies including "Armour of God," "Snake in the Eagle's Shadow," and "Police Story". His talent came to prominence worldwide when he starred in "Rush Hour," "Rumble in the Bronx," "Karate Kid" and "Kung Fu Panda."

Apart from acting, the Shanghai noon star also writes, directs, choreographs and produces movies. Chan directed over 30 action films in his country. He debuted at a tender age of 8 making the both Hong Kong and international movie industry charmed by his talent and stuntwork for forty years already.

Chan also spends his time and resources on "Jackie Chan Charitable Foundation" and "Dragon's Heart Foundation" which he established in 1988 and 2005, respectively, to provide scholarship and assistance to the youth of his nation and at the same time, help the sick and casualties of natural disasters.

Forbes declared "The Spy Next Door" as the world's second-highest paid actor. His earnings this year is around $61 million seconding Dwayne Johnson of "Fast and Furious," Reuters reported. Other recognitions he has received include the Hollywood Walk of Fame and the Hong Kong Avenue of Stars.

Chan along with British editor Anne Coates, documentary creator Frederick Wiseman and casting director Lynn Stalmaster will be honoured on November 12 during the Academy's Governors Awards event.
