Mother Teresa to be declared as saint on Sunday.

The Roman Catholic Church will finally canonize Mother Teresa of Calcutta on September 4.

The strong influence of Mother Teresa in the Church has led thousands of faithful supporters to witness the annunciation of her sainthood by Pope Francis at the St. Peter's basilica. She won the Nobel Peace prize because of her advocacies towards the sick and the poor.

19 years after her death, Mother Teresa remains popular among people due to her charity, goodness and kindness. She is known for her compassion for the poor, sick and dying.

Prime Minister of Bharatiya Janata Party (BNT) of India emphasizes that "When such a person is conferred with sainthood, it is natural for Indians to feel proud."  For citizens of Kolkata, canonization of Mother Teresa only serves as formality since they already consider her a saint during her lifetime. Father Savarimuthu Sankar of New Delhi added that Catholic Church in India is inseparable with the name of Mother Teresa, Deutsche Welle reported.

People of Kolkata consider her as the "conscience of Kolkata." Apart from her interactions with the lowest members of the society, Mother Teresa was also the founder of the Sisters of Missionaries of Charity. This movement is dedicated to people stricken in poverty in 139 nations.

Sainthood in the Roman Catholic faith refers to an individual who lived in holiness and performed miracles. Mother Teresa was credited for two miracles involving a Brazilian man with brain infection. Marcilio Andrino who received the miracle will attend the ceremony with his wife, Reuters reported.

Born in Agnese Gonxha Bojaxhiu, Mother Teresa was beatified in 2003 and will become one of the more than 10,000 Catholic saints. At a tender age of 16, she became a nun and transferred to India in 1929 and became a missionary in 1950. She died in September 5, 1997 due to heart attack.
