LG Electronics to Launch New Handset V20 a Day Before Apple iPhone 7 Release
Seoul-based company, LG Electronics will launch its latest handset on Sept. 6, a day earlier than the release of the latest iPhone to be held also in San Francisco.
Apple has already making waves with the release of a newly designed and improved gadget, iPhone 7. The American brand aims to retrieve its market share loss from competitors.
Meanwhile, LG Electronics aims to strengthen its foothold in the international smartphone market with its V20. This smartphone is packed with a 32-bit quad digital to analog converter that provides high-standard, clear music playback with reduced ambient noise. The company also announced that V20 will be the first handset to have Google's latest operating system, Android 7.0 Nougat.
In a report released by Korea Times, an analyst emphasized that "what is important is not the date but the functionality of the new device" referring to the concurrent introduction of V20 and iPhone 7 to the market.
LG officials also announced that they will maintain partnership with Bang & Olufsen to continuously provide high-quality audio functions. Other information about V20's specifications, features and price are not yet revealed by the company. CNET cited that others are claiming V20 to have two front cameras, USB Type-C port and 820 processor.
The model's predecessor V10 gained success worldwide especially in the United States with 450,000 units sold in less than 2 months. Reviews revealed that the low-priced V10 became a hit because of its outstanding video-audio specs.
This is not the first time LG Electronics sets up an event close to its competitors'. Last February, the company released G5 simultaneous with the debut of Galaxy S7 of Samsung Electronics. However, G5 did not skyrocket in the market compared to its rival.
LG Electronics is expected to match other smartphone makers with its V20 or its next generation handsets.
