Niantic released a new update for Pokemon Go allowing players to view the attack and defense capabilities of monsters. The update is called "Appraisal Feature" and with it team leaders can asses a Pokemon's attack and defense capabilities then share the data to their members.

Advantage in Battle

Knowledge of a Pokemon's attack and defense characteristics help players determine the performance of Pokemon in training and battle.

The Appraisal Feature is only accessible to players once they have reached at least level five and chosen a team to support: Team Mystic, Team Valour, or Team Instinct.

Hidden Attributes

Each individual Pokemon has a set of hidden characteristics which determine the limits of their evolution.

An initially strong Pokemon may actually have a very short evolution period than a seemingly weaker one which has a longer evolution period and thus could become much stronger later.

Appraisal allows players who want to face tougher gyms to prioritize the training of Pokemon that has the potential to evolve into a very strong Pokemon.

Apart from the Appraisal Feature, Niantic also added Android version 0.35.0 and iOS version 1.5.0 providing features useful for players seeking to intensively train their Pokemon.
