Joker Actor Jared Leto Attends New York Comic Con In A Disguise; Posed With Joker-Cosplaying Fan!
In the recently concluded 2015 New York Comic Con, Jared Leto walked around the convention wearing a large baboon mask. Nobody recognized the new "Joker" for the film "Suicide Squad," even when he snapped pictures with a Joker cosplayer, as reported by Screen Crush.
Leto strolled around the convention grounds wearing an oversized baboon mask, possibly from a Rafiki of "The Lion King" costume. He also took pictures of several con-goers, posting images of Superman, Batman, Robin, Harley Quinn, and other comic book characters on his Twitter account.
The picture that was retweeted, shared, and favorited the most by his followers was a snap of his baboon alongside someone dressed as him, the new Joker. The caked-up, green-haired "Jared Leto Joker," complete with forehead and neck tattoos, had no idea it was him. He candidly posed for a few more shots, as Leto's character would.
Leto's Joker character is based on "The Dark Knight Returns" comic book miniseries from 1986. This Joker was leaner and more muscular, scarred, and wore a broad-shouldered suit, according to Cinema Blend. In the comic book, Joker had bleached skin and green hair due to a chemical accident, and tattoos from a lengthy prison stay. The recent "Suicide Squad" trailer revealed no such backstory, aside from the fact that he likes to hurt people "really, really bad," as posted by Daily Mail.
Jared Leto is known for his dedication to his roles, winning him an Oscar for the film "Dallas Buyers Club." If this is any indication of how he portrayed Batman's archenemy, fans can expect another superb Joker portrayal other than Heath Ledger's.
When he's not filming or roaming around conventions and trolling con-goers, Leto is also the frontman of "Thirty Seconds to Mars," a three-man rock band from Los Angeles.
Suicide Squad opens on Aug. 5, 2016, and will feature a star-studded cast including Leto, Will Smith, Margot Robbie, Cara Delevingne, and Jai Courtney.
