Denver Broncos’ Rookie Paxton Lynch Controversial Haircut Making Waves in Online Community

by Erlane Audrie / Aug 20, 2016 07:22 AM EDT

The Denver Broncos are making headlines this time because of their haircuts. The rising star quarterback Paxton Lynch, for example, sported one that is "long in spots, bald on top and appears to just get weird in the back". This delightful treat and initiation rite didn't come as a surprise because this was expected of rookies - to sacrifice their neat haircuts for a while. Twitter and Instagram profiles of the players were flooded with 'interesting' haircut pictures.

It was a sight to behold because there were some who were left with parted bangs and a completely bald behind, others like Riley Dixon whose back resembled a mustache, and Cameron Wolfe who was left with tufts of hair in various places. Football fans seem to enjoy the spectacle a lot.

As a member of the elite National Football League (NFL), Paxton Lynch was recently chosen in the first overall 26th round of this year's NFL draft. Lynch signed a contract with the Denver Broncos earlier this year in June.

The controversial haircut he got is not the only reason why this player growing in popularity to sports enthusiasts. He is one to watch out for as he has shown much potential during the selection process. NFL writer Tom Pelissero said "He's a goofy dude and an unbelievable, huge, physical, fast athlete with a big arm...it's way less important who the quarterback is in Week 1 than in Week 17. And I would not be surprised at all if it's a different guy, because Kubiak showed last year that he's not afraid to do the hard thing."

Gary Kubiak is currently the head coach of Denver Broncos and he thinks that Paxton Lynch holds much promise.

Meanwhile, according to Pelissero, Lynch is just starting to get into the game:

"I know that when I first got out here, [the game] was spinning and it was moving so fast for me, but it's getting to the point where I can hear the play call and slow it down a little bit and get in the huddle and move past some things quicker. That's one thing that I've kind of started to learn, just to trust my instincts. Like I did in college, if I felt the pocket break down, then I wasn't hesitant to get out on the run and try to make a play that way outside of the pocket. Kubiak doesn't mind me getting out of the pocket and making a play as long as I keep my eyes up and make a good one."
