‘Fuller House’ Season 2: Jodie Sweetin ‘Given Up’ On Olsen Twins Cameo Ahead Of Release Date

It looks like any hopes for the possible return of Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen by making a cameo on the "Full House" spin off revival series "Fuller House" has been dashed, at least for series star Jodie Sweetin who has apparently given up on the prospect.

Speaking in an interview with Entertainment Tonight, the 34-year-old Sweetin said that the Olsen twins returning to reprise their shared role of Michelle Tanner is highly unlikely. "We've tried everything. I think we've kinda given up," the actress reflected on what the spinoff's cast and staff might be feeling.

The news is with regards to the character of Michelle Tanner being conspicuously absent in the continuation of the 1987 "Full House," where the character was originally played by both Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen in alternating capacity. "Fuller House" depicts the lives of the original show's cast of characters and how they have grown up, with Jodie Sweetin reprising her role as the second youngest of the original Tanner siblings.

The other Tanner sibling present in the continuation is D.J. Tanner Fuller, now a widowed mother of two kids and works as a veterinarian, who is still played by Candace Cameron in a reprisal of her original role. Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen's Michelle Tanner is the youngest out of the three Tanner siblings.

Despite the neither Mary-Kate nor Ashley Olsen apparently planning to return to play or make a cameo in the show as Michelle, Sweetin did admit that the upcoming new season will invlude a myriad of other cameos from possibly both old and new characters.

"We have a lot. A lot of people that have been talked about for like 30 years are going to be on the show," Sweetin told reporters. "It's going to be a lot of fun."

Candace Cameron confirmed the news of even more cameos for the season in an interview with Popsugar. "We have some amazing cameos this year. Just because season one did so incredibly well, there are a lot of people that are really excited to be a part of this show," she told the publication.

"Fuller House" released its first season earlier this year in February on Netflix with 13 episodes. Though the series met with universally low critical reviews, the audience rating was apparently strong enough for Netflix for Netflix to officially renew the show for another season barely a week after the first one released.

The second season of "Fuller House" is currently in the middle of production. No news yet as to a possible release date.
