Black Pink

Black Pink, the newest YG girl group amazingly dominated the World Digital Songs Chart in their major debut. This achievement sets them at a very good pace as they make their way through the K-pop industry. If you haven't guessed yet, they are really that new because they are less than a month old. However, these newbies in K-pop doesn't seem to be holding back as they fiercely made their way to the top, gaining hordes of fans. The group is multinational as this is composed of South Korea's Jennie and Jisoo, Australia's Rosé, and Thailand's Lisa. Like other K-pop boy and girl groups, the variety of talents seem to have added to the public's interest.

But that is not the only thing drawing the public's attention.

Take note, they are only part of the seven K-pop acts to hit the top spot on the Billboard charts. The others are: PSY, BIGBANG, 2NE1, EXO, CL, BTS and finally, G-Dragon and Taeyang. What's more amazing is the fact that they were said to be fastest to arrive to the top among the others. With this achievement laid out, you might be thinking about the reason behind their success.

One obvious answer is the countless teasers released before their debut. There was even a rumor that YG waited until SM's Red Velvet first made their appearance. Interest has been building over the years and YG definitely gained the results they wanted. Black Pink's single, "Boombaya" almost have 16 million views on Youtube now...and counting. Their other hit "Whistle" is still gaining momentum at 13 million. The group has also been given special attention because the last girl group to have debuted under YG is 2NE1 and that was seven years ago.

Newly-made fans are in for more surprises as the group is expected to release a number of hits in the coming months. And there's even a bigger proof of their popularity - their single "Whistle" was played in the Olympics. No wonder they topped the chart: the international sports community is already starting to get familiarized with them.
