PyeongChang Olympics 2018 Recruiting 22,000 Volunteers for Successful Hosting
The PyeongChang Organizing Committee for the 2018 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games (POCOG) is busy preparing for a successful hosting of the event in South Korea. Officials in the committee are planning to recruit 22,000 volunteers in various fields to support the preparations.
Volunteers will be recruited over the process of three months. Koreans and foreign nationals over the age of 18 are eligible to apply. Applications will be made available online. Any of those selected to volunteer will have to complete field training and basic classes, Yonhap News reports.
"We will carry out the recruitment process in a festive mood with the participation of South Korean citizens," Lee Hee-beom, head of the POCOG, said. "Through the process, we will lay the groundwork for the successful hosting of the Olympic Games."
The committee is preparing to give the highest quality of service to all the guests during the Olympics. Volunteers will begin working from February 2018 and will also have a host of benefits for their service. Meals, accommodations, accident insurance, uniforms, and more will be provided to volunteers free of charge.
