Ex-Girls' Generation Member, Jessica, Enters 'New Chapter' With No.1 Solo Debut

Former Girls' Generation member, Jessica, is looking forward to a new start as a solo artist. The singer was rumored to have been kicked out of Girls' Generation over a year ago. But Jessica is now back on her own feet, with a new label, and a number 1 hit single.

"It feels like having graduated from a school that I've attended for a long time," Jessica, 27, said in a group interview with Seoul Saturday. The singer was referring to her relationship with her former agency.

Jessica was formerly signed under S.M. Entertainment, a giant talent agency that still continues to manage Girls' Generation. However, Jessica's first solo album, "With Love, J," comes nine years after debuting with the girl group. The album is under Coridel Entertainment and currently features Jessica's hit single "Fly."

"I don't hold grudges against S.M. whatsoever," she added. "From my debut till now, Girls' Generation meant the world for me, because, without Girls' Generation, Jessica wouldn't even have existed."

Jessica said in the interview that she has creative control over her music. Not only is she the singer in "Fly," but she also composed and wrote the song.

"Life seems like a book that you flip through chapter by chapter," she said, adding that her split with S.M. was "the time to enter a new chapter."

"I'm not the kind of person who clings to the past in self-criticism. What I am going through now is completely new and adventurous."

Jessica added: "Singing as a group keeps hidden the individual colors of each member, because it requires the balance and harmony of the team. But as a solo vocalist, I was able to show my own colors totally without limit."

Jessica is on a bright journey and looking forward to greater success with her debut solo album. The Kpop star has more talents up her sleeve. Jessica's fashion apparel and eyewear line has been very successful and now operates in multiple countries. She also has three movie appearances lined up, including two in China.
