‘Gravity Falls’ Season 3 Update: Disney XD Series To Return Due To Fans’ Demand?

Could the insistent demand from fans change the mind of Alex Hirsch that he will eventually decide to return for "Gravity Falls" season 3?

According to Inquisitr, a similar scenario already happened before when the creator and director of the Disney XD series stated that he was no longer coming back for season 2 when season 1 ended in 2013.

However, following the consistent prodding from the fans of the TV show that talked about the twins Mabel and Dipper, which was originally aired on Disney Channel, Hirsch gave in, thus, the birth of "Gravity Falls" season 2.

Moreover, it was hinted that the young director, along with the "Gravity Falls" cast and crew, may just return to go on with their story in season 3.

"It's not inconceivable that one day we may return to this world because they are such rich characters, and with a little bit of time away from it, it's possible there may be a special or something," Hirsch reportedly told TV Insider.

In the meantime, the report revealed that the showrunner somehow hinted in the past that the third season "may eventually happen, but perhaps he will no longer be in charge."

He, however, pointed out that "they do not want to be like other shows that 'go on endlessly until they lose their original spark.'"

On the other hand, the predecessor of the rumored "Gravity Falls" season 3 concluded with a bang, Deadline reported. 

Based on data, the cartoon series' season 2 finale called "Weirdmageddon 3: Take Back the Falls" had 2.9 million viewers glued on their television sets to witness its ending. Such feat enabled it to snatch the title of being the "most-watched program in Disney XD's history."

Furthermore, it was disclosed that the final episode "accounts for the Disney XD's top nine regular animated-series telecasts of all time in kids 6-11 and the top seven in boys 6-11."
