"Game of Thrones" creator George R.R. Martin may have let slip that Jon Snow remains alive even after being stabbed by a gang of the Night's Watch in the last episode of the previous season.

The news comes as both HBO and Martin himself have yet to give word on the release of the TV show and the latest novel, "Winds of Winter," respectively.

In the tradition of "Game of Thrones" twists, Martin recently omitted the death of Jon Snow as among the listed canon deaths between the plots running at the HBO TV show and the "Song of Ice and Fire" novels.

At a post in Forbes, George R.R. Martin did not mention Jon Snow as among the dead characters from the series whose plot lines he would still explore in the upcoming "Winds of Winter" novel.

The Guardian echoes this speculation, as fans await the "Winds of Winter's" release date.

"George R.R. Martin has revealed he will go ahead with a twist in the next Game of Thrones book The Winds of Winter that will not be able to happen in the TV adaption, because the character has been killed off on the show," The Guardian said.

"It is fairly obvious because it is something that involves a couple of characters, one of which is dead on the show, and not dead in the books. So the show can't do it, unfortunately, because they have killed someone I have not killed," George R.R. Martin was quoted as saying.

According to Martin, there were already "fifteen extra characters that aren't dead in the book," namely "Mago, Irri, Rakharo, Xaro Xhoan Daxos, Pyat Pree, Pyp, Grenn, Ser Barristan Selmy, Queen Selyse, Princess Shireen, Princess Myrcella, Mance Rayder, and King Stannis."

Rumor has it that the new book could be talking about an alternative history for the Baratheons, all of whom HBO has killed in the series.

AV Club said that the "Game of Thrones" fandom are divided into those who followed the series and fans who've read the books and are eagerly awaiting the release of "Winds of Winter" release date.

Time, meanwhile, released a list of the Top 24 Emmy-winning twists that "Game of Thrones" has unleashed on viewers over the years, including the blinding of Arya, the cutting off of Jamie Lannister's hand, and Shiree's death by pyre.
