Highly Anticipated Movie ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ Announces World Premier In Los Angeles On December 14
The long wait is almost over for "Star Wars" fans as the world premier for "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" was finally announced on Thursday. The most awaited sequel will have its debut on December 14 in Los Angeles, California, as reported by The Guardian on the same day.
The film will also screen in London after its debut on December 14. Days after that, the sci-fi movie will hit the theaters around the world. Telegraph noted on Friday that the sequel is slated to hit the theaters in UK and US on December 17 and 18 respectively.
Although there were no further details about the world premiere in Los Angeles, reports reveal that members of the original cast including Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher and Mark Hamill will be present for the event.
Aside from them, British artists including Gwendoline Christie, John Boyega and Daisy Ridley will also attend the world premier in California.
The Hollywood Reporter forecasted on Thursday that the last "Star Wars" movie to have a debut in Los Angeles was "Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith" back in 2005.
"Star Wars: The Force Awakens" is directed by American director J.J. Abrams, who is known for his directorial works such as "Star Trek" (2009), "Star Trek Into Darkness" (2013), "Mission Impossible" (2006) and "Super 8" (2011).
The film will be the eighth installment of space opera franchise "Star Wars" created by George Lucas. The first "Star Wars" film was released on May 25, 1977 by the 20th Century Fox.
In addition, "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" has reportedly booked IMAX to screen the film on all of its North American screens for four straight weeks upon its opening on December 18. IMAX had the same deal with Peter Jackson's "The Hobbit."
Also, some parts of the latest "Star Wars" movie were filmed using IMAX cameras to "take advantage of the large-screen format," as per reports.
