Guillermo Del Toro Says 'Pacific Rim 2' Will Push Forward; 'GoT' Star Maysie Williams In Talks For A Role?

Director Guillermo Del Toro said that "Pacific Rim 2" is pushing through despite rumors that it has been cancelled because the title has been dropped from Legendary's slate of upcoming movies.

The visionary director clarified that the much-awaited "Pacific Rim" sequel is only being delayed so that the creative team can have enough time to make it better than the first installment.

He also reminded followers not to believe everything they read on the internet.

"Don't believe everything you read. It's still going and I'll remain with it in one way or another!" the "Hellboy" helmer tweeted.

He even mentioned that most of the main cast are returning in the sequel.

"The characters I love will return," del Toro told Buzzfeed last June. "Raleigh, Mako, Newt, Gottlieb and who knows, maybe even Hannibal Chau - but we are taking them into a fresh territory that will display amazing sights and battles. The first film set the stage and now we're ready to have a blast."

However, more recent reports claim Charlie Hunnam, who played Raleigh, will not return for "Pacific Rim 2."

According to rumors, Hunnam is reportedly having trouble committing to the Kaiju film's sequel should it happen.

The "Sons of Anarchy" alum is rumored to be circling the role of the Green Arrow in DC and Warner Bros' upcoming "Justice League" movie.

Many are speculating that "Game of Thrones" star Maisie Williams, who had already met with Guillermo Del Toro about the film, will replace Hunnam and take over the franchise.

While many are distraught about the idea of the young actress leading the sequel, the director thinks that she's perfect for the role.

It is believed that the upcoming film will pick up a few years after the events of the first installment and that it will focus more on the monster kaijus.

The sequel is expected to release in theaters sometime in 2017.

Stay tuned for more news on Guillermo Del Toro's "Pacific Rim 2" as information becomes available.
