Deftones Frontman Chino Moreno Says New Album Is More 'Technical'; Release And Tour Dates Revealed

Deftones has announced a release date for the new album "Gore," the group's eighth studio record.

Mxdwn.com reports that "Gore," the follow-up album to 2012's "Koi No Yakan," will be released on April 8, 2016.

The record is produced by Matt Hyde (Slayer, Slipknot, Children of Bodom) and will feature a guest appearance by Jerry Cantrell of Alice In Chains.

Vocalist Chino Moreno also revealed that Morissey, the former frontman for British legends The Smiths, was a suprise influence on the upcoming album.

"I've been on this crazy Morrissey kick recently - totally obsessing over his solo records - so I brought a lot of that to the table," Moreno said in an interview with NME magazine. "On those early solo records, he uses this awesome, Elvis-y delay on his vocal that I've been ripping off a ton. He's always been a favourite lyricist of mine - the beautiful poetic melancholy of it all."

Speaking about new material, "Digital Bath" admitted said that the new album is a little more technical than their previous works.

"I think it's a little more of a heady record" and "I feel like we've gone into the songs and really dissected them," Moreno revealed in a separate interview Blabbermouth. "If something sounded a little straight, we took a left turn and made things a little screwy."

The band has also announced the dates for their upcoming tour which kicks off next month.

Below are the dates and venues for March:

March 3 - Costa Mesa, CA at MUSINK Festival

March 16 - Mission, TX at Never Say Never Festival

March 19 - San Antonio, TX at Lonestar Events Center

March 20 - Dallas, TX at Southside Ballroom

March 22 - Houston, TX at Revention Music Center

March 24 - Lubbock, TX at Lonestar Pavillon

Deftones is also set to take over London's Wembley Arena in June, which was rescheduled due to the attacks in Paris late last year.
