Samsung Galaxy S7 Specs Hints At Qualcomm Processor And 4K Display During Release Date?
With Mobile World Congress 2016 just days apart, the time is ripe to round up all the rumors and speculations on Samsung Galaxy S7 release date, specs and price.
The much-awaited next-generation Samsung flagship will finally be unveiled on Sunday at MWC 2016 in Barcelona.
Predictably, the rumor mill about its specs has been going really overboard just ahead of the launch, possibly an inevitable byproduct of Samsung's earlier promise of making the next step "bigger than anything we've taken so far."
The mysterious teaser video recently uploaded by Samsung Indonesia took the rumors to another high.
To begin with, it appears that the Galaxy S7's main spec will flaunt a pressure-sensitive display similar to the 3D Force Touch in the Apple iPhone 6s lineup.
According to this SamMobile report, Samsung developed this feature in collaboration with Synaptics, a company that develops biometric-powered human interface solutions.
The possibility of a 4k display is there, although quite unlikely.
There are also reports that the Korean heavyweight will release the Galaxy S7 in two different processors for different markets.
If true, it is possible that the first variant with Samsung's own Exynos 8890 chipset will be rolled out to the international market whereas the second variant, powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 SoC, will be aimed at the Chinese and the US markets.
Considering that the Snapdragon 820 is somewhat infamous for its overheating issue, Samsung could include an innovative cooling technology in the device.
While it's still unconfirmed, IBI Times (Aus) reported that this new technology could feature miniature pipes filled with liquid coolant around heated chipsets.
Other key Samsung Galaxy S7 specs and features could include a bigger 3,000 mAh battery (3,600 mAh in the Galaxy S7 Edge), water resistance (as shown in the alleged teaser video), Android 6 Marshmallow, a homegrown version of Live Photos, high speed charging port and most importantly, microSD card slot which was missing in S7's older sibling.
Finally, even though the Samsung Galaxy S7 release date is set to fall on Feb. 21, it doesn't necessarily mean that users will be able to purchase it immediately after the launch.
That's because, almost every time Samsung unveils a device at the MWC, the company waits for another month or so before making it available for consumers.
