Jenner Vs. Trump On South Park Season 20? Spoilers Reveal Release Date Coincided With Presidential Elections
Spoilers for the upcoming "South Park" season 20 have revealed that its release date will be around the same time of the United States presidential elections scheduled in November.
According to Parent Herald, the show will continue a story arc that features Mr. Garrison and a fictionalized Caitlyn Jenner running for president that was featured in the previous season.
The likely air date for the upcoming season is September 21, according to the site.
The website also noted that all the release dates of each seasons were around the same date since "South Park" first aired in 1997.
Parent Herald added spoilers for "South Park" claiming that season 20 would no longer be split into two parts and would run continuously starting episode 1.
"'South Park' co-creators Matt Stone and Trey Parker originally wanted to end the series but were convinced to return for another season, albeit a shorter one. Given that there are only fewer episodes, Stone and Parker were given the opportunity to work on their other projects," the site said.
Fears that season 20 would be the show's last were eliminated after Comedy Central announcement the show had been renewed for a few more seasons.
Comedy Central exec Michele Ganeless was quoted as saying that "the series remains as urgent and relevant now as the day it premiered and at nearly 20 seasons in it continues to draw generations of new fans."
Movie News Guide, meanwhile, corroborated the news as it said that the release date of the premiere for season 20 would be around the second half of September.
Spoilers posted at idigitaltimes.com showed that PC Principal will still remain as a character, and fans are excited about how the show would tackle this year's presidential elections.
While Donald Trump was already featured as a major character, albeit a Canadian one, last season, his real-life status as a potential candidate will factor into the show as the series consistently tackles political topics reflecting reality into the show.
Realty Today cited the use of gun control as well as political correctness as topics that were tackled in season 19.
