‘Jurassic World' Dinosaurs To Improve After Critic's Remarks? Will It Be More Realistic?
While many were left in awe after watching "Jurassic World," experts claim that it's not actually impressive.
The National Geographic wrote an article about the movie's dinosaurs. And apparently, paleontologist Thomas R. Holtz, Jr. of the University of Maryland in College Park has something to say about the gigantic animals.
"Yes, we know 'it's only a movie but 'Jurassic Park' has a cachet that it borrows from science that is a lot different from 'Land of the Lost' or 'Godzilla,'" the expert explained.
Additionally, the expert also revealed that there are actually a number of things that "Jurassic World" failed to represent correctly when it comes to the dinosaurs in the film.
"The original movies brought the dinosaur research of the 1980s to 1990s viewers," Holtz said. "And the latest one seems to bring the dinosaur research of the 1980s to the 2010s viewers."
Holtz also called out the researchers of "Jurassic World," claiming that there is enough information to prevent such misinterpretations.
"I'm just disappointed-as are many other scientists and researchers-that they've deliberately chosen to portray 'old school' dinosaurs designed to mimic those of the original Jurassic Park," a zoologist at the University of Southhampton in the UK named Darren Naish said. "It's lazy and makes it look as if they wanted to stick to what they think is safe. Yawn."
"Jurassic World" wowed the box office records when it was released on June 12, 2015.
The film starred Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard, Jake Johnson, Nick Robinson, Ty Simpkins, BD Wong and Irrfan Khan.
