'Black Panther Movie' Cast Chadwick Boseman Gets Joined By Screenwriter? Film Director Still Missing!
Marvel's upcoming "Black Panther" movie production team is currently in negotiations with writer and director Joe Robert Cole to write the screenplay for the film, Hollywood Reporter writes.
Prior to this update, Cole and Marvel Studios already worked together previously as the former had written a draft for another film project "Inhumans," which is slated for July 12, 2019 release. Mark Bailey previously made a draft for the "Black Panther" movie script.
Joe Robert Cole is known for his work in 2011 film "Amber Lake" which stars Mekenna Melvin, Natalie Symka and his wife Polly Cole. He is also a member of the studio's in-house writers' program where "Guardians of the Galaxy" screenwriter Nicole Perlman originated. Apparently this could also be the reason why Marvel immediately tapped him to write for "Black Panther" movie according to AV Club.
Meanwhile, actor Chadwick Boseman has been confirmed to play the titular hero, who is named as T'Challa in his non-hero persona - a prince of the fictional African country of Wakanda who have to assume leadership after his father's murder. Boseman, 38, also has an upcoming film in 2016 titled "Gods of Egypt" where he will play the Egyptian deity Thoth. He is set to make his onscreen debut as Black Panther in the next Marvel film "Captain America: Civil War" which is slated for May 6, 2016 release as reported by Comingsoon.net.
Still, the production team has to find its director. Ava DuVernay recently turned down the offer to direct the film. At present, Marvel is considering F. Gary Gray to be its director; however the latter is already in talks to direct "Fast & Furious 8" - which currently leaves the director position open for other aspiring directors who might be interested with the project.
"Black Panther" movie will be released in July 6, 2018. The film project was announced in October last year with an initial release date of November 3, 2017.
