iPad Air 3 Release Date And Specs: A9X Processor, 3K Display, 401 PPI But No 3D Touch?
A new Apple iPad Air 3 release date rumor surfaced on the web late last week.
It predicts that the Cupertino-based tech giant could roll out the much-awaited next-generation iPad on March 18.
According to 9to5Mac, the release date of the device will come just three days after the March 15 event, also still unconfirmed.
Does that mean Apple is going to skip preorders for the iPad Air 3? Maybe, assuming that the 9to5Mac report is indeed true.
Word on the street is that the iPad Air 3 specs could retain the 9.7-inch display just like its older sibling iPad Air 2.
Meanwhile, there are also reports that suggest that the new device will come with a much-improved resolution of 3,112 x 2,334p alongside an excellent pixel density of 401 ppi.
Even though the speculative 9.7-inch screen is highly likely, it seems that tech enthusiasts will have to wait and see what exactly the company is planning for the forthcoming device in terms of screen size.
The iPad Air 3 is likely to be powered by either an A9 or A9X processor. The A9 is the same processor that powers the iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus whereas the A9X is the force behind the iPad Pro.
Considering that the second generation iPad Air specs featured an A8X, odds are high that the third-generation of the tablet will come equipped with the A9 at least.
Some analysts believe that as an alternative to the iPad Pro, the iPad Air 3 could come with at least 3 GB of RAM.
The current iPad Air models come in three variants, 16 GB, 64GB and 128 GB.
Reports are that Apple might phase out the 16 GB variant just like it did with the 32 GB variant with the original 8GB iPad and 32 GB iPad Air.
Meanwhile, according to a research note by KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, the iPad Air 3 won't feature the 3D Touch technology as an additional specs due to some production issue in Apple's supply chain.
