FNaF Movie News: When Is Warner Bros. Producing A ‘Friday Nights at Freddy’s’ Film? Fans Doubt A 2017 Release
Many fans of "Friday Nights at Freddy's" were excited when Warner Bros. picked up the rights to the franchise last year, launching news speculations that an FNaF movie will be underway soon.
"The feature adaptation will be produced by Roy Lee of Vertigo Entertainment as well as Seth Grahame-Smith and David Katzenberg of KatzSmith Productions," The Hollywood Reporter wrote in April 2015.
"The game takes place in Freddy Fazbear's Pizza, a darker version of Chuck-E-Cheese, where an animatronic animal band performs kiddy songs by day, and goes on murderous rampages by night," the news feature continued. "The goal of the game is to survive a night locked inside, knowing that a furry death machine might jump out of the dark at any moment."
July last year, it has been reported that Warner Bros. has chosen a director for the project.
"Gil Kenan has made a deal with Warner Bros to direct Five Nights At Freddy's, a live-action adaptation of the popular video game series created by Scott Cawthon," Deadline wrote.
"Kenan will write the script with Tyler Burton Smith ... Kenan, whose breakout came after being tapped by Steven Spielberg and Robert Zemeckis for Monster House, followed with City Of Ember and most recently directed the Poltergeist remake. He's repped by WME and so is his co-writer."
However, not much FNaF movie news has been reported within the past year, sparking doubt over fans if a Warner Bros. is still interested to make a "Friday Nights at Freddy's" film.
Furthermore, "Friday Nights at Freddy's" is not one of the movies listed in Warner Bros.' upcoming films in IMDB, possibly implying that a production schedule and a release date is yet to be slated.
Despite fans' excitement and curiosity over the rumored project, Warner Bros. is yet to announce fresh FNaF movie production news.
