Liam Neeson, will play the world-renowned military leader General Douglas MacArthur in 'Operation Chromite', a South Korean war movie. The people in charge of production have confirmed this during a press release on August 12, announcing the famous Hollywood actor's participation.

"The film has already started receiving a great amount of attention after the news came out that Neeson will take part in the project" a representative says. However, it isn't clear whether his scenes are in Korean or English. He has gained popularity in South Korea for the action thriller 'Taken'.

The Oscar winner isn't the only Hollywood actor to have roles in a film under Asian directors and producers. Tilda Swinton and Chris Evans have starred in 'Snowpiercer' - a Bong Joon-ho English-language sci-fi action movie, which have mostly positive reviews. Famous actors, Adrien Brody and John Cusack, will also star in the upcoming Chinese film 'Dragon Blade' as Roman warlords.

'Operation Chromite' is the Battle of Inchon's codename. Under the direction of John H. Lee, who's also known for critically acclaimed '71: Into the Fire' - another South Korean war film, the upcoming war epic focuses on eight soldiers who have helped reversed the situation during a secret operation before the northern forces' attack on Inchon. According to historians, Gen. MacArthur was behind the victory of the United Nations forces.

The film has a budget of 12 billion won (around $10.18 million) and will start production later this year. Its scheduled premier is on June 25, 2016, marking the 66th anniversary when the Korean war first broke out.

Apart from Liam Neeson, plenty of actors have played the role of Gen. MacArthur. These include Tommy Lee Jones in 'Emperor' (2013), Daniel von Bargen in 'Truman' (1995) and Laurence Olivier in 'Inchon' (1981), among others.
