‘Fast And Furious 8’ Release Date Set In April 2017; Kurt Russell Returns With Bigger Role In Cast?

It was previously reported that the release date for "Fast and Furious 8" was set somewhere in 2017. 

However, it seems that moviegoers will be more than thrilled to know that actor Vin Diesel has already announced an exact date for the film's premiere.

Now, acclaimed actor Vin Diesel announced via E Online that the latest installment to the franchise, "Fast and Furious 8," will be available in theaters on April 14, 2017.

Moreover, the source also noted that Diesel even went on to confirm an entire trilogy of the franchise that will be released with "Fast 9" and "Fast 10" premiering on April 19, 2019 and April 2, 2021, correspondingly.

Meanwhile, it was also reported that Kurt Russell's nefarious character in the film, as Mr. Nobody, will be playing a bigger role in the upcoming film, Cinema Blend reported.

The source also stated that the Russell was indeed included in the cast of "Furious 7" in order to prep up his character for the succeeding installments of the franchise.

In addition, the source also speculated that another recurring cast member might appear in the widely anticipated "Fast and Furious 8" with Eva Mendes re-enacting her role from "2 Fast 2 Furious" as US Customs Agent Monica Fuentes.

It was also revealed that "Straight Outta Compton" director F. Gary Gray, who is in charge of the latest installment, announced that he was really excited to bring to fans the next chapter of the franchise.

The choice of having Gray take the helm for the film was also confirmed by cast member Michelle Rodriguez, who also stated in an interview that the film needs a director who's passionate about it, as reported by the source.

"But for us as a cast, I think we need a reason and it needs to have heart, so hopefully we'll find it, you know?" the actress expressed herself. "And somebody who's passionate about directing it-I think that's the most important thing is finding a good director."
