Cloud Strife Release Date For 'Super Smash Bros' Confirmed; Will Feature 'Advent Children' Costume

Last year, Nintendo announced that Cloud Strife would be the next DLC character for "Super Smash Bros. 4."

While the news of the swordsman's arrival into the Super Smash universe certainly excited fans, the Japanese game developer did not mention an exact release date.

Now, rumors are claiming that the "Final Fantasy 7" protagonist will finally be available this month.

According to VG24/7, Cloud's gameplay will feature a Limit Break, a move that is charged by either dealing or receiving attacks.

The special ability automatically activates when full, and changes the character's moves to Limit Break attacks. The source also stated that the "Final Fantasy" hero will have two costumes that are based on 2005's "Advent Children."

Masahiro Sakurai, the director of "Super Smash Bros. 4," had previously mentioned that Cloud Strife was one of the top characters which were most requested by fans to appear in the game.

The ex-SOLDIER was officially added to the list of characters last year, along with an illustration from the original "Final Fantasy 7" character designer Tetsuya Nomura, who was also the director for the game's PS4 remake.

However, the iconic Square Enix character isn't the only non-Nintendo property slated to join the popular beat-em-up.

According to Day Herald, Platinum Games' Bayonetta will also be released as a DLC character this month.

"Bayonetta will pack a lot of guns and players will be able to use these guns to attack enemies while playing with this character," the publication mentioned.

It also claimed that the character will have a special ability called the "Witch Time," which allows gamers to slow down the movements of their enemies and take them out with ease.

Stay tuned for more updates on the Cloud Strife's release date for "Super Smash Bros. 4."
