Puppy Bowl 2016 Livestream: Lineup Lets Audience Create Their Own Team Of Fur Babies!
Puppy Bowl 2016 is here and fans who just don't see what all the Super Bowl hype is all about (except maybe for the chicken wings) are tuning in to Animal Planet instead to watch cute, cuddly fur babies compete in the field! [Watch Puppy Bowl 2016 Livestream below]
As if livestreaming Puppy Bowl 2016 isn't enough, Animal Planet also gives fans a chance to draft their own fantasy team! On their website, fans need to log in (using Facebook, Twitter or email) and choose 3 pups out of 49 to make up their fantasy Puppy Bowl team. After which, you will have to choose your team's name.
2016 is Puppy Bowl's 11th year of showing the world pups can dominate football, too! Every year, Animal Planet picks puppies between the age 12 and 21 weeks old from animal shelters throughout the country to compete in a 19 x 10 feet "football field." The equipment, of course, are squishy footballs, furry stuffed toys and a bowl of water (in case anyone gets thirsty).
While the past couple of Puppy Bowls had bunnies and pigs as cheerleaders, this year, however, silkie chickens will cheer on the teams.
"Because they're silky, you still want to pet them the same way that you would a bunny or even a pig. But silkie chickens are a little more refined, if you will, than your typical chicken," Puppy Bowl 2016 referee Dan Schachner said of how this year's cheerleaders will change the dynamic of the game.
Dan Schachner also believes for Puppy Bowl 2016, Team Fluff might actually score a victory.
"Team Fluff's gotten a lot of flak since we divided into teams a couple years back for being the pretty boys of the game. They're all style and no substance," the referee said. "Year 1, year 2, that may have been true, but what happened in the off-season is a lot of them took it personally and hired puppy personal trainers."
"I can tell you there are a couple of Chihuahuas that are deceptively strong, and they sneak around the more traditional puppy linebackers," he added. "It's a closer game this year than it's ever been."
Puppy Bowl 2016 fans can livestream the game below on Sunday, Feb. 8 at 3pm ET.
