Girls’ Generation Member Taeyeon Releases Two New Singles This Week As Part Of SM Entertainment's 'Station' Project
SM Entertainment announced that Taeyeon is slated to release two new singles this week. Korea Joongang Daily reported Tuesday that a couple of new songs are to be released on Wednesday by the Girls' Generation member.
The agency added that the 26-year-old singer is the first artist to release new songs through music channel Station.
Station is a new project from SM Entertainment through which the company will release new songs from its K-pop artists.
"We will keep releasing music continuously and freely throughout the year," said Lee Soo Man, CEO of SM Entertainment.
Lee made the announcement last week during a presentation dubbed "SM Town: New Culture Technology."
Reports revealed that the first new single, titled "Rain," was released during midnight of Wednesday. A music video was also unveiled to the public on the same day, Soompi reported Wednesday.
Meanwhile, the Girls' Generation leader is also set to release another song called "Secret."
The South Korean singer started her career as a member of K-pop group Girls' Generation in 2007.
Girls' Generation was first known for their single "Into the New World." The group drew more interest from international fans in 2009, following the release of their single "Glee."
Outside of the group, Taeyeon was able to make solo appearances and collaborations with other artists.
One of Taeyeon's first recordings as a solo artist was for "If," the soundtrack for the drama series "Hong Gil Dong." This was later followed with "Can You Hear Me" for the drama "Beethoven Virus."
Taeyeon's official debut as a solo artist was in 2015 when she released the album "I." On the same year, the South Korean singer staged her first solo concert, dubbed "Taeyeon's Very Special Day," at the SM COEX Artium.
The artist was given the "Best Female Artist" award during the 17th Mnet Asian Music Awards last year. She was also featured in "If The World Was a Perfect Place," a single under Verbal Jint's sixth solo album.
