NBA Trade Rumors: Cleveland Cavaliers Open To Trade Options For Clippers Star Blake Griffin

Now that the NBA trade nears, several teams are already weighing on their prospects to boost their lineup before the arduous post-season. One of the latest and probably intriguing rumors involve the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Los Angeles Clippers.

According to Inquisitr, the Cavs are currently working on a trade package in order to acquire the currently injured Clippers highflyer. Several sports analysts consider this possibility to be a big trade for both organizations as the Cavs are allegedly willing to swap another superstar, Kevin Love, in order to make the trade doable.

According to Mashable, Griffin is currently nursing a broken hand and is expected to miss games in the next four to six weeks.

NBA trade rumors about the Cavaliers speculate that the team only has one goal for the season, which is to try and have a rematch with the current champions, the Golden State Warriors.

Considering the current status of the NBA Eastern Conference, the Cavs have the best chance to reach the finals, provided that it will not lose its key players to injury, a fact that has greatly cost the team in the previous Finals.

Facing the Warriors once again in the NBA Finals will be a tough job for the Cavs, especially now that Stephen Curry has astronomically improved his performance.

Considering the LeBron James, Kevin Love and Kyrie Irving trio will be healthy until the highly-anticipated rematch, some sports analysts believe that they are not cut out to stop the offensive firepower and ultra-fast gameplay of the Warriors.

Should the Cavaliers pursue the Griffin trade, the biggest question is how he will fit into the team.

In the recent Cavs versus Warriors game, the latter opted for a small lineup and shifted Draymond Green into the center position. This move was a disaster for the Cavs defense as center Timofey Mozgov simply cannot keep up with blazing pace of the Warriors.

In this aspect and should the NBA trade rumors become true, putting Griffin in the center position and utilizing James' strength at the power forward position will give the Cavaliers a slight defensive boost.

Based on previous games, Griffin showed that he is athletic enough to stop, or at least keep up, with Draymond Green on defense.
