Microsoft Releases New Office 2016 Update; Excel Brings In More Chart Options
Tech giant Microsoft recently released an Office 2016 update. This update includes major upgrades for Office 365 and Office 2016 which put emphasis on the Excel 2016 productivity tool.
The update for Microsoft Excel includes a new set of charts that will help in creating more comprehensive and detailed presentations, according to a post on the company's official website.
- Waterfall Chart
This type of chart works well when used to convey certain information or trend with a common bottom line. This chart is also effective in showing the shared relationship of gains, losses and current balance. - Treemap Chart
This type of chart can be used to highlight a specific aspect of business. The bigger the category's impact is, the biggest it is presented on the chart. This chart is effective in differentiating the gains and loss of each business' division. - Box and Whisker Chart
This type of chart falls under the histogram type. Its main application is presenting trends and specific customer demographics.
In a statement acquired by WinBeta, Microsoft said, "Companies tend to reach a breaking point with Google Apps around the 50-employee mark because it doesn't provide the centralized management and security capabilities, nor the breadth of integrated collaboration tools, that Office 365 does."
On top of the Excel 2016 update, Microsoft also released a handful of upgrade for Office 365. The company is expanding the scope of tits Microsoft FastTrack service and will now cover companies with at least 50 to 149 seats.
Microsoft FastTrack was previously limited to companies with at least 150 seats. Some market analysts said that by supporting smaller companies, Microsoft will appeal to small and midsized businesses.
Microsoft also alluded to future Office 2016 updates. The company is planning to release an update for Excel that will include the Funnel Chart. This type of chart can be used in tracking a specific sale process as well as other data analytics application.
