Korean Designer Bag Brand Kwani Gains Popularity Overseas Due To Positive Social Media Reviews

Kwani chief executive officer Son Kyung Wan says the designer bag is winning the taste of the customers for its good quality, reasonable price and design. The Korean designer bag is now making a name after receiving good reviews from its customers.

"Every customer in the world prefers sophistication and comfort," said Son, as reported by Korea Herald Oct. 2. "So, Kwani has made it a rule of thumb to produce light and sophisticated bags at reasonable prices."

Son took art as her major subject in college. No wonder, the mother of three has an eye for creativity and designing. Son started selling her designs online in 2012. Her easy-to-carry bags won the heart of her markets as the design became a hit.

She opened her first store in 2014. Also, local department stores are offering Son to distribute her products.

Korea Joongang Daily reported on July 24 that the design of Kwani bags is the reason for its popularity. "The unique rectangular cover has a hole where the handles are attached so users can easily reach in to get something out quickly without having to open the bag."

In addition, Kwani's bestselling bag is called Stud or Black Stud, which has black studs on the lower part of the bag. Stud, which costs 82,000 won, is accountable for 80 percent of Kwani's sales, Son revealed.

"Studs have been a popular item for decoration since a few years ago, but products with these studs were not the most appealing item for general female customers. To appeal to a wider female audience using studs, I decided to remove the pointy ends and used them to design a bag. When it came out, the response was explosive," she said.

Kwani is known in overseas countries such as China and United States. Just recently, "Kwani has opened a multilingual online shop through Cafe24's Global Service," to improve the service for its foreign customers.

Son revealed that they are planning to put up more stores in Korea this year. Aside from that, the designer bag brand also plans to make its debut internationally by the end of 2015.

"In order for steady global success, we must first be trusted and loved by people in our own nation," said Son.
